Utilities — water, sewer and trash

To start city water, sewer or residential trash, contact City Hall on 816-740-4251 or download the Application for Utility Service and return it to City Hall.

Shut-off day is always the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 9:00 a.m. for bills not paid by the 15th of the month prior. Payments made after 3:00 p.m. on shut-off day will not be turned back on until the following business day. A $35 late fee is added inside the city limits, $50 outside them. After hours there is a drop box at City Hall.

Trash & Curbside Recycling

Residential collection is contracted to Redgate Disposal. All trash service issues should be directed to City Hall on 816-740-4251.

No tree limbs, brush, yard waste, carpet or remodelling materials in the regular pickup. Break down boxes, rinse containers, no glass in the curbside tote — glass goes to the bins behind the fire station. Large appliances are collected at no cost on 816-277-8572, with oil, gas or freon removed first. Seal needles in a taped, lidded hard plastic jug.

Breed restriction. The following breeds are not permitted in the City of Lathrop; Any pit bull dog. Pit bull dog is defined to mean:
  • The bull terrier breed of dog;
  • Staffordshire bull terrier breed of dog;
  • The American pit bull terrier breed of dog;
  • The American Staffordshire terrier breed of dog;
  • Dogs of mixed breed or of other breeds than listed which breed or mixed breed is known as pit bulls, pit bull dogs or pit bull terriers.
  • Any dog which has the appearance and characteristics of being predominately of the breeds of bull terrier, Staffordshire bull terrier, American pit bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, any other breed commonly known as pit bulls, pit bull dogs or pit bull terriers; or a combination of any of these breeds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a late fee on water bills?

A 5% penalty is added to any water bill still unpaid after the delinquent date. If it is not paid by 9:00 a.m. on the second Wednesday of the following month, a further $35 late fee applies to customers inside the city limits and $50 to customers outside them, and water service is discontinued until the bill, penalty, late fee and any reconnection fees are paid in full.
